Harkleroad beaten in French Open

Walker County native Ashley Harkleroad lost 6-2, 6-1 to fifth-seeded Serena Williams in the opening round of the 2008 French Open on Sunday. Harkleroad, currently ranked 61st in the world, was playing in her fourth French Open. She advanced to the third round in 2003.
Harkelroad will team with Russian Galina Voskoboeva in women’s doubles. They will face the French team of Youlia Fedossova and Virginie Pichet in the first round. I’ve heard word that American darling Ashley Harkleroad will be appearing in the August issue of Playboy.
